How I Plan My Tasks Around the Moon Phases

Hey there! If you’re like me — an entrepreneur and freelancer who thrives on structure — you might find that planning your days around the moon phases is a total game-changer. I create digital products and write horoscopes and astrology content for clients, so aligning my schedule with the lunar cycle keeps me in flow and makes my work feel more intentional. In this “Plan With Me” style breakdown, I’ll show you exactly how I use the moon phases to structure my days, stay productive, and keep my energy balanced.

New Moon: Fresh Starts & Intentions

The new moon is all about new beginnings, so I use this phase to set my goals for the lunar cycle. I take out my New Moon Digital Planner (which you can find here) and write down:

  • New content ideas for my astrology clients
  • Digital products I want to create this month
  • Personal goals (like fitness, mindfulness, or learning something new)

This is when I brainstorm big picture ideas and outline new writing projects. I also take some time to refresh my workspace — cleaning my desk, setting up new playlists, and diffusing essential oils to welcome fresh energy.

First Quarter Moon: Action & Momentum

After setting my intentions, the first quarter moon is when I take action. This is a high-energy phase, so I focus on tasks that require creativity and motivation. Here’s what my to-do list usually looks like:

  • Outlining and writing astrology content for my blog and social media
  • Designing and launching new astrology-related digital products
  • Sending pitches to clients for horoscope commissions

I make sure to schedule workouts and meal prep during this time, too, because my energy is naturally higher, and I want to maintain that momentum.

Full Moon: Reflection & Visibility

The full moon is the peak of the lunar cycle — things come to light, and it’s a powerful time for showcasing work. This is when I:

  • Publish my most important content (a big horoscope guide or an astrology deep-dive)
  • Engage with my audience by responding to comments or sharing behind-the-scenes content
  • Check in on my goals from the new moon and celebrate wins, no matter how small

I also use the full moon as a time for release. If I’ve been holding onto an idea that’s not working or feeling overwhelmed, I step back and declutter — physically (like clearing out old files) and mentally (by journaling and letting go of self-doubt).

Third Quarter Moon: Adjust & Prepare

Journal prompts from New Moon Flow Digital Planner

As the moon starts to wane, I slow things down and reflect on what’s working. This is when I:

  • Wrap up client projects and tie up loose ends
  • Edit and revise content that will go live in the next cycle
  • Plan my next steps based on insights from the full moon

I also use this time for self-care, whether that’s taking a break from screens, enjoying a long walk, or simply getting a good night’s sleep. By aligning my work with this phase, I avoid burnout and stay inspired.

Why Moon Planning Works for Me

Planning my tasks around the moon keeps me in sync with my natural energy levels and prevents me from overloading myself at the wrong times. If you’re an entrepreneur, freelancer, or creative, I highly recommend trying it out! My New Moon Digital Planner is designed to help you track the lunar cycle while staying on top of your goals.
